You aren't the real Buzz Lightyear Black Five! You're an action figure! You are a child's plaything!

Whist i agree with the comment my loco my rules.. I do wonder sometimes about builders who do some superb work and then have a brain fart at the last momentIf it is a freelance or industrial loco then yes anything goes ,but i have seen a lovely 5in P2 Great workmanship, nice paint job 2006 'Cock o' the North' on facebook SNIP Taking that sentiment on board I was doing some spray painting and not getting very good results- and yes, I have 'The Bible' - I decided to swallow my pride and bung all the bits in a big box and take it to the local professional spray shop! Boiler/firebox cladding, cab, running boards and anything else I could find will come back looking lovely, and worthy of the engineering that I have put into the Brit. I'm a trained machinist, not a painter and decorator! Watch the Brit Progress space... John

John
Who paints it and what colour is entirely up to the builder. No problem with that, or anyone ( me included) of using Malcolm Highs laser service. I will 99% get someone to paint the B17, and it will carry the correct name and number and livery I was just commenting on a chap that has built a lovely P2, good paint job, but in my mind spoilt by either a wrong name or wrong number, as he has called it Cock o' he North which was 2001 with the number 2006 which was Thane of Fife It is just that i cannot understand the rationale behind it, and not lining it corrcetly( unless it is to wind up people like me!!)
not even a trained machinist, let alone a painter Ron

I enjoy machining, I probably won't enjoy painting and It's unlikely that I will enjoy driving either. I get pleasure from the parts that interest me and won't be frightened to share the build with others who enjoy doing those other parts. I will draw on the expertise at the pumphouse to assist in building the boiler, and sub out the painting to Chris, if he fancies another challenge. Long way from Isle of Wight to Scotland, though. Regards, Steve

Well our B.F. tender came ready painted in gloss Black with an interesting L ogo on it? Lodge Near Easy Recliner it stands for at the moment in our sitting room as I joke it is a small seat once we have the coal printed cussion for her!!!
I find yellow for the wheels very usefull to show any imperfections... Spray filler! Then Black that makes them vanish. I have been at the wheels when it has been too hot to work outside. For big holes I am trying J.B. Weld! Also giving it a splodge on the chimney as it says it goes up to 550 degrees! Someone at the foundery gave the angle grinder too much welly!
David and a very understanding Lily.
