The box of bits arrived this morning, and I was not prepared for the size of this machine! I'd also forgotten that laser cutting of anything introduces heat, so when I opened the box I got a distinct barbecue pong! Having said that, the bits are accurately shaped, and all the holes are to size plus a couple of thou, so well impressed. This will be an assembly as opposed to a build thread, but I still want it to look as wonderful as he original here! www.youtube.com/watch?v=1scj5sotD-EBox of bits checked and catalogued into the four thicknesses WP_20180705_19_36_05_Pro[1] by inkaboat, on Flickr I used a 120 flap wheel to take the char off the edge of the main frames. Jan suggested that I leave the black on the inside of the bits as a contrast, a strategy that I'm warming to... WP_20180705_20_02_14_Pro[1] by inkaboat, on Flickr

An interesting thing to make John, should keep you busy for a while....if you like pieces with many moving part take a look at this....this was a job we did for Cadbury's, IIRC a 6 week build then shot over a few days at Black Isle studio's in Acton.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTgBf1KVc6EPete

John - very hypnotic! Did you get the pieces cut or is it avalable as a kit with all the ball races etc? Hi. I got them laser cut. I tried cutting out a few pieces on my Excaliber scroll saw, but it would have taken me three months to do them all! Not cheap, delivered in less a week by SketchLaser in London, and dead accurate. There is no kit available. This will be a hospital job! John

Thanks for the info. Got to be strong and resist temptation or I will be the one in hospital!

Have you managed to source any of the rid end bearings for the wings?
I still haven't been able to source anything appropriate without modification. There seems nothing small enough in the UK and McMaster Carr won't ship over to here.
