Hi George, The maximum validity period for a hydraulic certificate on a steel boiler is, as you have in your mind, 2 years Boiler Test Code Vol 1 Clause 12.5b Don't overlook the need to remove the cladding at 7 yearly intervals for a thorough examination.

George This appears to be the original hydraulic test hence it’s validity is 4 years. Thereafter it’s 2 years. There is no mistake this is all in accordance with the MELG boiler test code.

Seeing the certificate makes things easier! No real problem with it. The certificate displayed with the advert is for the initial test, (2 x Working pressure), and is valid for the life of the boiler or until a major change is made to the shell. The repeat hydraulic test, with all pipework attached will be valid for 4 years, thereafter repeat tests on steel boilers are valid for up to 2 years.
