I'm posting this on behalf of a fellow member of my MES. Sorry, can't post a photo.
MISSING 5” gauge “Simplex” – BELIEVED STOLEN
The locomotive was discovered to be missing – last week - from storage at the Welling and District MES and is, therefore, believed to have been stolen.
It has boiler number N2410067, and a distinctive back axel different from the front two.
The loco will probably be missing its grate and ash-pan, but is – otherwise – in full working order.
This is a particularly callous act as the loco belongs to an older WDMES member who has mobility and other health issues. Running his “Simplex” was one of the last hobbies he is able to enjoy.
If you have any information that could lead to the recovery of the loco and/or identification of the thief, please contact the Metropolitan Police quoting crime number : 3621419/18
