My very nice digital caliper developed a fault this morning. It gave all the symptoms of a flat battery and wouldn't read sensibly. I put in a new battery but to no avail. I rang the supplier, MSC Direct, who told me that the guarantee expired on the 13th November and they couldn't help me... This the gadget here. Not cheap and I expected more than 54 weeks use out of it! www.mscdirect.co.uk/JTSPU-13610C/SEARCH:KEYWORD/product.htmlOn to Youtube for a fix and it was easy. Remove the label on the back, unscrew the cover and remove, clean the internals, and put some thin masking tape over the PCB. Reassemble, and it works perfectly! www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Fix-Digital-Calipers/John

Had the same on a nice caliper I 'won' with some tools on Evilbay. it had been a calibrated toolroom device. Its amazing what a bit of cleaning will achieve.
