Hello I am just wondering if anyone can help . I am building a three inch traction engine and I need some advice on rustproofing the inside of the tender which forms the belly tank . not sure what to use any suggestions . thanks Trev

I've often thought that copper plating the inside of water tanks would be a good way to go.

Motorcycle petrol tank sealant for repairing rusty leaking petrol tanks, from what I remember it’s a two part mix rather like fibreglass resin and hardener, you pour it in and swill it around until all the inside is coated. Buy a couple of classic motorcycle magazines and look in the adverts in the back.

Por 15 tank sealant is the Rolls Royce treatment, Isoflex is a slightly cheaper alternative.

I used POR15 on my Berkeley T60 fuel tank and it works a treat. Just be aware if you use too much the internal layer is quite thick; block any pipes or holes you wish to retain with a paintbrush handle or similar so they don't get blocked with it.
