I have finally completed my first build ....Maid of Kent .... and taken her out for her maiden run. Still a number of issues to sort out. The axle pump design has was altogether too complicated and I have just had to disconnect it altogether. Steam pump is dodgy and I don't know how to use the injector yet. Lucky the hand pump works! I'll try to download the video of the first run. This has been a huge amount of fun to build, though the quality is certainly lacking, and I have built in wear all over the place.... but it goes! By the way ... it looks nothing like a Southern loco (or any other loco for that matter) but I wanted it to be red and hopefully, shiny. Cheers Geoff farm8.staticflick

I take my hat off to anyone who's seen this process through from start to finish, well done indeed. It's something to be hugely proud of, and I'm sure you're going to get years more of enjoyment from. I too look forward to seeing a video and any pictures you might have.

Beautiful locomotive! Congratulations! The steam pump, did you make it yourself? It looks to be a Van Brocklin type?

Geoff Well done, a rare accomplishment these days. You have included sufficient rare qualities that you should avoid the purists (like me!) and invent your own railway to complete the original ideas, Bloody good job though, many of us will need to catch up one day!!! David

That link requires a login. I don't think you can share dropbox items with web pages, you need to upload the video to a third party site like Flickr or Photobucket.

Great job! You've finished a loco... I'm at least 6 years into my build. Those who've finished a loco would be churlish to complain about anything on someone's first completed build. Anyone else's opinion doesn't matter.

Alan,
I guess you must just decide where you are going to put your personal pictures and also your model engineering ones.
Personally, I only have model engineering pictures on Flickr, so no issue.
Geoff,
You can post videos on Flickr.

Hi Geoff,
I had in mind that these days you cannot be too careful when it comes to managing images of your children or others for that matter.....Sadly there live among us certain types of low life who would be only too happy to exploit these and other images for their own perverted ends....
At Kinver MES--- and I dare say others too--- there is a Police registered photographer and only he is allowed to take photos on behalf of the club...
I contribute to another forum for Royal Enfield motorcycles....The average contributor is approx the same as on here and we had exactly the same problem with images of their pride and joy being posted but with the rest of the account being able to be accessed as well........
Your idea is good, common sense but not everyone is "aware" it would seem.... even in 2019 !!!

I have only uploaded 19 photos to Flickr .... mostly of model engineering topics so I'm surprised that all my other photos are available for people to view???

Your dad would have been both pleased and chuffed! Errol Thanks Errol ... I don't think he ever expected me to get involved in the hobby. How is DSME going?

Geoff, You can post videos on Flickr. Thanks Alan, I have tried posting a video to Flickr but have not had any success doing so. Is there a size limit for the vdeo? I cut it down to 30 seconds but still no good. I see you're building Lorna Doone ..... I would love to build one of those!
