Hi
I ma a new member: I have a project to build a 5" gauge Boxhill Terrier I inherited from a previous modeller. The chassis is built and I have the casting etc. I am in the process of getting my South Bend 9 lathe back into action. My first task will be to turn up the wheels but i need some practice ones.
As I am new to this , I would appreciate help and support and resources to help me. My main issues at the moment is to understand how or if there are actually any oil lubrication that needs to be installed on the axles. There are no holes in my axles boxes but the drawings seem to suggest there should be etc.
It is long term project and I would full-time, so will be a 10 year project: dependant on money and time.
Many thanks in advance Tom

Hi Tom
Welcome to the forum. There are a couple of Terrier builders on here so you should have plenty of help.

Some loco builders drill into the axles from the centre of the ends, then a cross-hole coming out at the journal. So no need to fight your way between the frames when oiling, or have fiddly little pipes - just pump an oil gun to the end of each axle, and wipe away any excess.

Hi tom
welcome to the forum, as has been mentioned there are a number of very good build threads on this forum for Terriers, plenty of info within them and I'm sure that the builders of such threads should be able to answer most of your questions during your build. For specific questions, best ask on the 'general chat' page of this subforum that 'welcome' is in.
good luck
Pete

Not sure what I did here!
I zigged when I should have zagged!
Regardless, Tom. i have a south bend too. Rebuilding it and tooling up my shop. Currently trying to devise an organization sceme to reduce time searching. I think that may have been. Removed, ar, at least, nicked slightly during the brain surgery! Ha!!
