Anyone attending?
I will be there, on duty, Thursday to Sunday. I am staying in Newport for the Friday night so will be having a beverage or 3 in the beer tent that evening.
Pete.

We usually go to the Saturday and I chatted with your members at the Doncaster show with the intention of coming. Unfortunately my mate seems to have mucked things up and is going to the Great Cockrow Railway on the Saturday now. I'm not sure if we will come down Sunday or not - it'll be a last minute decision - but I'll look out for you if we do. Ian

Well that was a very enjoyable experience. We were very lucky with the weather which always helps on these occasions. The visitors seemed very happy and that is what counts. Some of our older members found the experience quite challenging especially as we had never had so many trains on the track at the same time. We also had more than enough of the "what we should have done is......" type comments which are great after the event but not much help when you have so many balls to keep in the air.
It was bloody hard but rewarding work, and my thoughts of having a good drink on the Saturday altered to getting my head on the pillow by 22.30.
I go to a number of events each year so it was long overdue for me to be part of the hosting team for once.
Pete.

Didn't make it this time Pete but thanks are always due to people like you as the AGM weekend must involve a lot of work and generally goes smoothly (or glitches are well hidden). As for "What we should have done is..." - store them up for next time and don't leave it too long before hosting again (easy for me to say). Echills Wood next year and it doesn't seem that long ago since we were there so why not suggest 8 to 10 years time? Ian
