She is a Great Beast, isn’t she, John? She is so large, she must have her own Flat at the track! At first glance, I thought, A4? Then, the sheer number of wheels screamed “ Articulated”! SRS had one of these Garratts, several years back. Not many of these in existence, so this is, likely, one in the same! Watching her perform must be a thrill. Steam hissing and, that bloody dynamo, shrieking ! That one will fill the “boot” of the old Mini!
Thanks for the great link!

Does anyone know of the; EAR 4-8-4 + 4-8-4 Beyer Garratt" by Peter Wardle. It just caught my eye at. N25ga. Seems that some effort will be needed to find the Construction series from EIM, Correct? With a 43/4” barrel on the boiler. This must be a Large model for the gauge! www.n25ga.org/Designs/Overseas%20Designs/EAR%20Beyer%20Garratt/beyer.jpg Intriguing! Wondering if anyone has any connections? Thanks! If I am out of turn, please comment! This machine sets the cranial mass in motion! Mick

AH My Childhood in Zambia? Yes back in January of 1966 we were in Broken Hill Zambia and my walk and later cycle to School took me past the running sheds of the Railway. I later got to go on the footplate of one with a Friend. WOW. Of course she was in steam!! We later moved to a not so snake infested garden but still passed the station twice a day to and from School.
Were out there for 3 years in total and came back to a railway without steam... But got to go out to Dinting and a young Worth Valley. David with a memory of Mosquito BITES!!!

It must have seemed To be a giant for such a young Lad. Up on the footplate and all the hustle and bustle, of a locomotive in action! Wow. Small compensation for the mosquito bites! At your age in my youth. Steam was long past, bit the attraction of the diesel. Switcher on it’s daily duty was much fun to watch in. Iowa farm country! Lay a penny on the rail and collect the flattened copper later. Little gifts for the pretty little girls of our youth!
With the garratt, it almost like Riding two locomotives, one going forward, the other backwards!
Every locomotive part is made in. Sets of 4 parts each? oh My! I seem to do that on an o-4-0 shutter!!
