Hi all, as the subject of this "ATC" equipment has recently arisen again (in Roger's thread) and as a lot of us might be house bound and want something that might be interesting to read, have a look at this accident report, concerning a tragic derailment of WR Britannia 70026 in 1955 near Didcot. The ATC equipment and its operation are well described and maintenance problems with it were highlighted and may have been a contributing factor that led to the engine overturning at speed. I've already PM'd Mike, but it also confirms the location of the "shoe" on the WR Britannias. Cheers Don

It is said in the Learned Pages that once the very simple Automatic Train Control system had been proven to work. Many GWR employees donated their time off to its manufacture and installation so highly regarded for safe operation it was by them. The GWR also lost no time in advertising it under SAFETY FAST. Where fog was no longer hampering seeing signals.
Of course now we need a drawing of the shoe arm so we can all build one while in isolation!
? "Dad what did you do during the 2020 ISOLATION" Well you know your younger sister!!! OH yes, we all made ATC equipment for our model locomotives!!!
