I've been travelling so appologies for the delay in posting here is the 2D assembly drawing for the ash pan and hoppers. my post on 24/04/2020 showed an extract portion of the full size BR drawing and the 3D printed in plastic scale ash pan and hoppers. Nigel is working on the 2D drawings for the tender so will post some of these shortly ciao Martyn

hi all time rushes on as does the work on the West Country. Nigel has now finished the 2D CAD drawings for the tender as well and the engine, in total 54 of them, use this link to see drawing index in the post of 16/06/2023 the final one is I think the piece de resistance the drawing for Painting and Lining see below. Now that the drawings are complete Nigel will return to building the prototype in the new year. ciao Martyn

That's going to be a fantastic model for model engineers to build! I'm looking forward to seeing the prototype come together which, I'm sure, will encourage others to build their own.

Martyn,
Do you have any idea of pricing(s) and likely availability dates that you are prepared to disclose yet?
Regards, Phil

Hi Phil unfortunately we don’t have indicative pricing at the moment as we’re still refining our manufacturing methods eg 3D printing directly in metal vs 3D printing in was then casting. naturally we’ll choose the lowest cost that gives us the high quality we’re looking for. And similarly timing is also up in the air as we complete the prototype refining and correcting the design as we go. sorry we can’t be more definitive at the moment. ciao martyn

This is absolutely gorgeous! I‘ve been researching about doing a project like this and I would absolutely be interested in supporting your guys’ work and get the parts too! Also I think I did see it somewhere but what gauge is this currently made to? Amazing job and I can’t wait to see future progress in the prototyping!

James The primary design is in 3 1/2 inch gauge Before embarking on a detailed cad design project like this consider that to do it properly will take as long if not considerably longer than physically building the loco itself.

Hi All Sadly it's been six months since we last posted and it therefore may seem like not a lot is going on. In fact quite a bit is going on as you can see from the images below which show my loose assembly of the frames with all the latest 3D designed and manufactured brackets and stretchers as well as the cylinders. This makes the assembly essentially complete as per SHT J which i've included again for completeness. congratulations to Phil on the sophistication and accuracy of his 3D CAD design - i found bolting the stretchers, brakects and frames together no problem at all with near essentially perfect alignment between all the holes in all the components. also I found drilling out the pre formed holes in the stainless steel 3D direct metal printed components no problem provided i used sharp titanium nitride coated drill bits with low speed and high feed plus cutting fluid of course. to do the drilling on these small brackets and stretchers i purchased a small bench top drill press - a Proxxon TBM 220 see link which was perfect for these small components the final two photos show the existing boiler in position. meanwhile we're getting organised to shift the completion of the Loco to another model engineer. as well as more parts are bing manufactured by our 3D metal printers and 3D cast part manufacturers. we have approx 75% of the parts necessary to complete the loco and hope now to do so over the next 12-18 months ciao Martyn

Now that is looking very fine indeed, a real testament to the detailed design. Looking forward to seeing further progress.
