Since I am new, may I introduce myself? I am Craig Williams living near Santa Cruz, California, the owner of the 15" gauge GSP&P railroad and interested in most aspects of the railroad "disease". Last year I was researching information on the Hackworth valve gear (common on US traction engines), seen sometimes on UK 2 ft gauge locos, and on at least one Baldwin engine. What I found was the text of a series of articles in ME by Duncan Webster with detailed mathematical treatments of several valve gears. While I may have the text of all the articles, I am missing several of the accompanying Figures. The introduction page is headed with "Issue 3 31 1 96", which is confusing, but narrows the search down to the year and perhaps to 31Jan. Someone else on this board said that these articles (or others like this) might be found in ME issues 4052 10Oct97, 4054 7Nov97, 4056 5Dec97.
To be explicit, I have Word files labeled "Part1-4.doc" and "Gray.doc". The Figures are AutoCAD files (which I find quite useful) labeled "Figxx.dwg",xx= 08 thru 13, 18, 20, and 24. While this may be a bit long winded, I would be most grateful to be pointed toward a source of the missing files.
These articles seem like a valuable contribution to the steam hobby and I hope they can be preserved and displayed somewhere easy to find. With the permission of Mr. Webster and ME, I would be willing to add them to a website somewhere.

Hello Craig Duncan is often on the Model Engineer Forum, I am not sure he ever looks in here. I suggest you send him a personal message, you can find him posting in the middle of this page www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=150094&p=38. You do need to be a member to post or message. If you are not then PM me here and I could pass your email address to him with your message above if you wish. regards Norm
