Hi All We used to use something called HSE 216 that governed/ guided societies in how to run a safe miniature railway. That got canned, I believe as part of the HSE shakeup in 2008, the start of austerity, Since then the hobby itself has redone this and produced a current document. A lot of work from the members of about ten society groups including the Souther Fed with which I am mixed up a bit. Well pay dirt time! It will be known as HS2020 and the full title is Guidance for operators of passenger-carrying miniature railways. More importantly it has now the blessing of the HSE and has permission to carry the HSE logo and a forward by the HSE. So here is a good example of the hobby managing itself and getting a result. A little bird has suggested that it will be available in the next few weeks once printers are organised and each society might get a free copy!! But then birds can be wrong, we will see. Cheers David

Hello David
Thanks for posting this, its been a long time in the making. I like the idea of Clubs being issued with a printed copy but do you know if it will be officially issued as a .pdf at he same time? This is likely the only way I'll set eyes on it for the near future.
I would appreciate your posting again when you know the guidance document has been actually issued. Hopefully we will be able to run our ground level railway again in full accordance with HS2020 sometime later this year.

Hello David
Although the individual model Engineering Society's will get their copy it would be beneficial to MECH members if you could confirm on here when this takes place.
Regards
Jim

That website, pcmrsq.org looked a bit dodgy. When I got into it, it wasn't HSE and was nothing to do with model engineering, or any engineering, so I googled this:- HS2020 Guidance for operators of passenger-carrying miniature railways and got the .pdf copy. off the Newport Model Engineering Society site, which is the first one on the page, and it offers the .pdf copy. Bob. Edit. When I clicked on the link, it went straight to an online gambling website!!
