Hi William,
The only 'Industrious' design I know of is an 0-6-0 tank loco by Henry Greenly. I've never heard of one by Martin Evans but I could be wrong.

Greetings, Like Baggo, I am confident that this is not a Martin Evans design. I am curious why you think it is, I know that martin produced several private, or unpublished designs, so it might possibly be one of those, but I doubt it. Also, I do not think it is a Neville Evans design., and I think the current ME editor (also Martin Evans) has not yet produced a published loco design. Might it be a name for a particular loco to one of Martins design, say a Simplex? Regards Brian

Sorry gents, having a senior moment, as had been reading about Martin just before posting.
It is definitely the HENRY GREENLY design
Never seen or heard of it but it appears to be an 0-6-0 industrial style saddle tank.
Only info I can find is that it is a one off commission by him?
Thanks for pointng out error.
William

Maxitrak are listing Henry Greenly drawings, and "Industrious" is on the list, with two drawings available. So they might be a useful start. Maxitrak websiteWilf

I am not sure that this thread is of interest to members but some more info has come to light .
Designed as a commission by Greenly in the 1930's,the loco is an 0-6-0 industrial saddle tank approx 18inches long.
Castings could be ordered from the family at Torquay.
Several sets were bought by members of the Bristol SMEE as a joint project approx 40 years ago.
Any info on these would be appreciated.
Thank you
William

This must be the design which appears in Greenly and Steel, Model Steam Locomotives, pp 210-211.

I am not sure that this thread is of interest to members.... ...Thank you William Fear not - keep posting, please. You may find you can edit the subject line and your first post - so Greenly's name in the subject, and drop Evans into your first post so it doesn't make a nonsense of the first replies. Wilf

Are you thinking about building one, or is there some other reason for your interest?

The opportunity to acquire an almost complete rolling chassis arose so I took it, mainly because of the appeal of the model and also that it was something I could manage the weight wise. Size is approx 18 inches long

Hi Although it's not an 0-6-0, I do have a 4-6-2 Greenly loco. Well a part complete rolling chassis. It is shown in the Bassett Lowke book.
I will ask my friend if he can take a look at the book and see if there is another design to 0-6-0.

This sounds exiting!
Everyone likes photos, so if you can document your journey with some posted on here, you'll have a rapt audience. You'll need to use Flickr, Imgur or similar to save them.

Apologies delay in reply, but pictures will follow - still trying to get the hang of how to do it.
Very pleaseant surprise today in the mail.
A member spent some time researching this loco and in so doing discovered the original construction notes and drawings by Henry Greenly which were published in The Model Engineer and Practical Electrician on October 13th 1932.
I am more than grateful to this member for his interest and helpfulness.

William has sent me this photo of his loco - while he's figuring out picture posting options, I can put it up for him. Industrious by Wilf, on Flickr It's a sweet little thing. Wilf
