I presently have a Boxford CUD & have the chance of a Chester Craftsman. Does anyone have one of these and have you transported it yourself. I am wondering if I strip the Chester down, (Cabinet / motor/ tailstock) am I likely to get it in a Ford C MAx (Seats removed). Its 160 miles from where I live so hopefully I can do it in one trip. I have read weight is 400 kg so will be getting a bit heavy on the headstock assembly ??

I got a Raglan 5 from near Leicester 3 years ago and most cars will take a load. If you can try and load bits in the front passenger footwell.
Got another Raglan 2 weeks ago rusted up apart from the motor but only had to move it 11 miles this time. I carefully slide things about in and out. Get some substantial Joists and something like cheap flooring panels that slide on the top. 4 wheel moving trolleys and slide lathe bed into the car. You can just about get one to slide up from the floor. A rope and levered on a batten capstan like works well.
David and Lily Reading.
When using rope wear goggles in case it snaps.

This sort of Dolly is the thing: B&Q DollyI got some very similar, very cheap, in Lidl or Aldi, I forget which. Wilf PS I got my mill (170kg) into the back of a Skoda Fabia. I'm sure a C-Max can take more.
