My name is Grant Jones. I am an active Mechanical Engineer. I've been model building for a few years now, having completed some Stuart models, a Quorn grinder, a hit and miss engine and numerous other small things.

I undertook a 4-4-0 project, started by an elderly gentlemen. It's an American engine. The original full-size engine resides in a train museum in Winnipeg Manitoba. I have no drawings for this build, with the best I have been able to do is get information on similar models. I will be seeking questions from people on this.

Welcome to the forum Grant, you don't say which gauge your model is? There are a couple of American 4-4-0 designs which come to mind, one in 5 " gauge by John Clarke www.ajreeves.com/nyc-hr.html and LBSC's Virginia in 3 1/2 " gauge www.glrkennions.co.uk/model-engineering-steam-locomotive-virginia.html
