YES This sad news came upon our doorstep today within the Model Engineer. Lovingly written by Denis Herbert who got to know him far to late. But grew to appreciate his skills in helping build a KING. The Photo indeed shows Trevor having a drive. Trevor never quite got to build a King.
I for many years admired his work in the design of the Prairie and indeed used many ideas and of course castings gathered for my own Small Prairie to works and other Drawings.
I shall endeavor to get a Photograph of 4121 on here which I own and admire for inspiration. Yes she was built by Trevor and the detail is superb. Fittingly that she came up for sale in time for my 60th last year. Castings and parts and a boiler and a kit for two of them are within my collection. Water-jet cut frames look just so lovely.
Thank you Trevor for all you have done to help our Wonderful Hobby. It would be lovely to get in touch with his son David and extend our appreciation.
David and Lily.

I'm sure David has more locomotives than GWR did!
A great shame to hear another great ME has passed.

It was very sad to read a while ago in ME about the passing of Trevor Shortland. I'm glad to see that his model 5101 is in safe hands with David. I found this web page about Trevor Shortland when he worked as a model maker for Austin at Longbridge. Austin Memories

I came across this model which had been advertised for sale, that was designed and built by Trevor Shortland. Link : Woodbury Models 5101 (See about two thirds down the page). The write up is very interesting as it states that Trevor Shortland's workshop and unfinished models were acquired by Ted Newbery who has made a number of wonderful models of GWR locos. It doesn't appear that Mr Newbery did much if anything to the model. I was wondering if this was another version that Mr Shortland had been working on,as well as the model he built that is now owned by David. Also an interesting mention of Bromsgrove SME,to which,I assume Mr Shortland belonged. T Shortland Loco by Laurie 73082, on Flickr

I pondered this and looked closely. The running board top of Cylinder forming is badly done as is the rocker cover. On mine these are superbly made.
I have just got in 2 Class 2 Tender body kits from Ed Parrot for my rainy day build.
