Hi All,
I have machined the locomotive cylinders for a gauge 1 C36 class loco however the boring bar has left a fairly ruff finish.
I think it might be the speed that i am cutting at so i might take it out a few though furher at a higher speed.
I also could try a diffrent tool in the boring bar perhpas
Any ideas?

Ian,
1. What material are you using? 2. Cutting speed/feed? 3. Tool type HSS/TCT? 4. Tip geometry pointed/round tip? 5. Feed method hand/automatic? 6. Lubrication?

You'll probably never get the finish you're looking for with hand feed. 1000 rpm should be heeps of speed - my ol' Myford will only crank out 700 odd & it bores OK
