I was given a Clarkson tool cutter grinder, with loads of accessories, including mag chuck and centres. I can apparently grind upto 2.5" dia milling cutters, but my machines can't handle anything over 1/2" dia shanks. Still I can grind arbours and other tooling which is what it'll be used for. Regards Jon Glad you are using it Cheers Norman

But there is always something! My heap heap of remaining artefacts is not quite ' as i planed' because it is ALL - ONE inch.
I can merrily swop and change but the next heap of 'goodies' - ain't. The next lot is 25mm and that creates a rattling fit. May go on a bit longer and highlight the rather desirable ER32 collet stuff which will hold square tooling and such and this is whayt Hemingwaykits suggests for the --- wait for it- the Mark3 Quorn and presumably can do a lot more circus tricks. and that is 25mm- cos' I have the drawings and -- have fiddled on with my assorted archaic hardware.

In my small corner of the Universe, I am playing with an Acute T&C from Eccentric Engineering. Of course it will not do flutes but buying the plans and using the contents of the scrap box it seems cheap and cheerful for much of the everyday hss tool grinding.
What seems to be is that some of us are going back un time to diamond tool holding again but enjoying the arguably better and easier to use now cheap and availsble synthetic diamond products. Yes I know about the affinity of steel and carbon.
My other Christmas Box was a copy of the Potts tubular vertical slide which arrived with a one inch Myford spindle, an old fashioned No2 MT and a 9 hole division plate. The green and the clubs were not included.
There is a video or whatever and information available on the net as swell as some intriguing photos in lathes.co.uk
Some might enjoy the return to yesteryear

Earlier post deleted but I keep wondering whether anyone has recently built a Tinker grinder.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this post, it has been interesting to hear of others experiences. I have, thanks to a heads up from a member here, bought a nicely made Quorn MK2 T&CG, unbelievably within 34 miles from home. It does need a collet holder and collets making as it was only ever used for square lathe tooling but I have a cunning plan for that if it works out. I've stripped and cleaned / polished the moving parts removing any vestige of oil so it all now moves smoothly and nothing to collect the grinding dust turning it into an effective grinding paste Thanks Chris D

Greetings Chris, very nice machine. I have managed to squeeze in an E25 parallel shaft (25mm) collet chuck, into my toolholder, which had luckily bored 1.023 in, instead of the stated bore of 1.00. I made up a very thin sleeve to lift the diameter of the chuck to suit. It works well. I think you can obtain a 20mm parallel shaft on the same sized chuck, which would be easier to make a sleeve for, Regards Brian

I can always get a 20mm one and make a sleeve which will be a quicker option. Chris D

I just reeived the other bits- diamond holders etc for my Acute T&C grinder which came with a Best Wishes card recalling my fragile health and age. So to the Mark3 Quorn which an update on the Mark2 but addressed things like the ER32 and the presumed ease of 'rounding off' ends of lathe tools.
When the details were released, I bought the revised drawings and instructions which I considered worthwhile.
Best wishes towards your enjoyment of your 'new' machine
