I intend to get a milling machine some day but have restricted space just now. I have a horizontal cross slide which I use on a bench drill which is fine for accurate drilling but no use for milling (surprise surprise). I have a Myford ML10 which is a great wee machine but the range of vertical slides that are generally available are too large for it. So I have just received a small verticle slide which was manufactured in India but available on eBay at just £42 which is a great price. I am really impressed by the quality of the casting etc for the price and size. The mounting holes were too small at 5mm so I bored them out to 8 mm to make them suitable for the T nuts on the ML10. The slide has limited travel but is ok for small jobs. The only critism is that the slide adjusters do not have lock nuts on the grub screws something that can be easily remedied. So it's thumbs up from me. Please note however if you are thinking about getting one that there are a number of companies supplying these tools on eBay but a lot are actually being shipped from India - beware customs and tax charges will probably apply.
