The only parts not 3D-printed are the couplings, lamps and figures. It has a surprising amount of weight for its size. It has sprung buffers and bushed axles.

Darrene, that's brilliant a wonderful job. I assume there is bacon on the sandwich as the four legged friend is showing an interest. Another reason why I have got to get into this printing lark. (obviously the Toad not the bacon) Regards Paul

Now we all know what you look like!!! Yes a superb bit of model making and wonderfully you can be scanned in any position. (Remember Boys this is not the joke section!!!) Love the dog. Bacon is what you get from these machines if everything goes wrong.

As others have said a superb piece of work, could I ask what machine and print material were used or were the parts printed commercially?

Thanks chaps! It was printed on a Prusa i3Mk3. With a high infill, it's deceptively weighty for it's size. Although it has steel couplers, I suspect there would come a point when the combined weight and rolling resistance on a long train caused a component failure somewhere. That said, I've successfully printed and used a dual rail bender for G scale track without issue - using the correct filament (in that case PETG) and a good design, it's a strong material!
It's a real shame companies like Slaters omit the 3 1/2" gauge scale from wheir wheelsets. I mean I get why they don't, but it is a shame - it's a case of mill your own, use cast or live with printed ones..

Thanks for the info Darrene, if you sent Slaters a drawing they may be tempted to produce some wheels, they did for me some time back, but that was for 7mm scale.
Not sure if the material they use for moulding the centres would stand up to live steam forces in driving wheels but bogie & tender or rolling stock wheels shouldn't be a problem.
Regards Dave

They tend to be a bit of a mixture Ian - PetG, ABS, Polycarbonate, Nylon. The couplings are conventional steel

Ok, that's quite a mix, I've not tried most of those materials yet - but the wagons certainly looks very good!
