Hello fellow Engineers. My name is Malc and I have been involved in Engineering all my working life. When I was 21 and finished my apprenticeship, I left the company’s employment and started a new job in Press Tooling, where I met a old guy who was a Steam Model maker in his spare time. He invited me to his home to see his workshop in his basement. When I saw it I was blown away and at that point I decided I wanted to do this. The guy gave me some drawings and told me this could be my first project as he didn’t think he would live long enough to finish it. The drawings were of “Doris” 3 1/2” Gauge Black 5 Locomotive. Unfortunately life doesn’t go as one plans and I have been working on and off on the Loco for 40 yrs. I am now at the stage where I have built up a nice little workshop and after losing my job to COVID 19 I now have more time for me.

The very best of luck! I just await the lottery win that will pay my bills so I can move into my workshop full time!
Welcome.

Hi Malc, I have also been in this wonderful hobby for many years but other things like being Married, A lovely Daughter and the Day Job. Plus house improvements get in the way somewhat. The Black Five is one of my favorites and me and young Daughter correctly identified and were suddenly on the Footplate. Our badge of HONOUR Dirty fingernails at School on Monday. We were in trouble again. Cheltenham Station we love you.
David and Lily.
