Hi I am finishing of a build of the Filicitas that my dad started in 1958 the drawings are a bit yellowed and tattered. The drawings have no text as to who drew them or any other text.I have done some research and to date have come in contact with Tony Shaw in the U K who has one and it seems it is the only other complete one running he also gave me the info he has,the drawings was by a H G white.

I'm trying to work out what it is, my first thought was heilan lassie but the running boards don't look right.
Certainly an elegant looking Locomotive

I have seen this photo before, not too sure where, i do have a copy of H.G Whites book “Maintenance and Management of Steam Locomotives” might be in there, will investigate. Im not a latin scholar but I think that “Facilitas” may be roughly translated to “easy”, but this may be a red herring, long time since i was at school. Looks like a typical 1950’s hard working LBSC stye designed loco, i like it. Would like to see a photo of the chassis without boiler, if you have one, might give a clue to the orign of the design.

Just found my copy of, H.E Whites, not “HG”as in my original post, book “Maintenance and Management of Steam Locomotives” there seems to be two very poor photographs of a pacific one that is similar, but not the same as above photo and one of the rear three quarter view. Used latest link but it only shows the original two photos.

Thanks for the photos, very interesting. Looks like a typical 1950’s build, nothing fancy just built to use on the track, minimum materials, maximum enjoyment. I have a Heilan Lassie rebuilt on my bench at the moment, many similarities to your loco, but different. Looking at the drawings they look very professional, certainly executed by someone with time on the board. Look forward to seeing your progress.
