Hello. I am a relative newcomer to rail live steam, but have been involved with 4” road locos for quite a while, starting with a MW agricultural and then moving on to a showman’s scenic road loco, named Frederick, that has covered quite a few miles on behalf of Parkinsons UK. My current loco is a 3.5” A3, Hyperion Some other pictures posted by Peter S-H yesterday. Does anyone know anything about the builder / origins of this engine: www.stationroadsteam.com/3-12-inch-gauge-southern-railway-king-arthur-4-6-0-stock-code-9711/In another world, I also make 2mm scale models (Copenhagen Fields is the name of the layout at the Model Railway Club - hence ‘cfmrc’ username.) Thanks Reg, but the gentleman you describe is the other builder that Mike alludes to in the description of the King Arthur. The standard of workmanship is equally exemplary, but I understand that the builder died quite recently. It would be quite a project to do him justice. I suspect it was made from works drawings unless anyone knows of any ME style around?

Welcome to the forum.
I too looked at the King Arthur on the SRS site, was tempted but had to admit to myself that the level of build was beyond me.
This may be a red herring but one thing I did notice as that in the “Details” section it listed the boiler maker as I Jaycocks, could he have also built the engine? There was an I Jaycocks that ran at IMLEC in 2002 at leeds, have a look at the ME report, it may give some clues. He could also be just the boiler maker, but worth a look.
