Hi all

Who is Roger Thornber ?
Where can I find a list of his g1 plans ?

I've read in passing references online in regard to his g1 plans, but for some reason he is a bit of a ghost , and dam near impossible to find contact details for a list of his available plans (either direct or through a online business).

As far as I know he's based in the UK, but that's all I can find out.

Can anyone fill me in on the Roger Thornber mystery

For everything Gauge 1 I would first contact the Gauge 1 model railway association www.g1mra.com/

About 10 years ago I have an email address for him of grandsft{at}chiltern8. freeserve.co.uk no idea if that still works. He published a few of his designs in the UK ME mags.

I've dropped a note to one of the other Gauge 1 loco designers I know to see if he can help.

Funnily enough I've tried to join the g1mra but since I'm in Australia that's a lost cause, the Australian g1mra rep/branch contact seems to have disappeared. Phone and emails just don't get answered.

I've tried that email for Roger Thornbers but the emails keep getting bounced back, I think that address is defunct.

My friend Dave Parker has got back to me and confirmed Roger is still with us. But Dave is away for a few days so cannot immediately lay his hands on any further information. Dave has promised he will forward it to me when he gets home again.

Some pictures of my gauge1 Merchant Navy Class based on drawings by Roger Thornber.
I am building a batch of these with several modifications and alterations to give a more prototypical engine with 3 cylinders and chain driven valve gear.
Unfortunately the project is currently on hold due to domestic commitments but hopefully I will start work again this year , covid allowing.
