Test print of a little 5" gauge LowFit wagon. Created and shared by Andrew Wildish on Thingiverse. I think it might work as the basis for a Shunters wagon too.
It uses a modular frame with dovetailed joints on the stretchers and beams., so it's nice and rigid
The axleboxes are cushioned with soft rubber acting as the springing. I've redesigned the boxes to accept sealed bearings and 17-d wheelsets
This combination gives a good low-rolling-resistance and helps give it a 5.3kg unloaded weight:
It needs some livery now but it's a pretty quick and cost-effective way of getting a wagon!

Finally completed, thanks to some walnut stained pieces of pine which I ripped to size. I may replace these with some sunbleached stained wood instead, to look a little more convincing. The liverying was done using my wife's Cricut and some white adhesive vinyl sheet. It was a bit of a chore to apply but the end result was worth it. On the next wagon I may try laser-cutting the lettering on the sheet, as I have a 3D printer becoming spare, which could be usefully converted. Darren
