As long as it's not in his name there's no problem, the only problem is, whose name do you put it in ?, I'll enquire at my local club "Whose name does the club loco use" interesting question that I'm a boiler inspector for another club which only has diesel outline club locos.

Our Club steam locos just have the club's name as owner.

It would not be in the interest of the tester to bypass any of the test rules even if it is for the club he or she belongs to as if and a big if anything should go wrong his or her name will be on the test certificate.
I am a qualified PAT tester and I also turn bases and make lamps as part of my hobby but in this case just on principle I would out source that job

If you want to have a truly independent test done you can ask your secretary to write to another society to ask if they could make a boiler tester available fr the test. There is no charge but expenses are encouraged, maybe a bit of mileage. Useful if you have a friendly society nearby. Cheers David
