Hi all, An ex Electronic Engineer....I have a keen interest in making stuff for Gauge 1 model railways (mainly from metal and wood). Currently completing the MEL riveting tool so I can start making my Barrett Grange Loco. This will be battery powered. I've just acquired an old Myford Super 7 with Amolco milling attachment - yay! (one off my bucket list). Currently a novice in hands-on machining, my main objective is to learn new techniques and processes in all areas through a combination of reading, watching and experimentation. (etching brass, milling, lathe work, braising, casting....) And the next item on my bucket list is to build an airplane. CAD is coming on nicely

Welcome! Plenty of folk on here with Myfords (including myself), so if you ever need any advice it should be forthcoming.
The Barrett kits have a good reputation so hopefully you should be ok 🙂
Regards,
Dan

Thanks Dan,
started off with a quick look at the motor which was making a terrible noise - fan grub screw was loose. Then replaced one of the belts. Now looking to give it a good oiling before I get stuck in. It arrived with some interesting attachments which I need to research and may post on here if I don't get anywhere.
Noticed the Amolco is missing the T-nuts (or equivalent). If I can't buy some, does anyone out there have any drawings of these so I can make some?
