Where do people buy their coal from for their Models?
There was no suppliers at the Midland show, so looking arround. Do not want to by off ebay.

Good question, I was wondering myself where I could get some, I couldn’t make the Midlands show so not aware that they weren’t there, are Signal Fuels still trading? I was thinking of going to my local coal merchant and trying to get anthracite beans or grains as used in the solid fuel hopper fed stoves. I have an open fire and use the smokeless stuff, Homefire eco 50 or whatever and although it burns reasonably well in the grate it is very wasteful breaking it up into bits small enough for a loco, it’s a bit too cold and wet at the moment to get a loco outside and play around steaming it to see how it burns.

Signal Fuels are still trading and prices are reasonable in my opinion. For anyone in the Derby / Chesterfield area they are probably the best bet if you collect. Local merchants seem to be stopping supplying decent steam coal although they do still sell some that would be fine in a traction engine perhaps. I know of several people who asked for the bag to be opened only to refuse to buy once they saw what was inside. Ian |

Why would you not want to buy it from Ebay it would be delivered to your door?
