I'm mid way through a 3 1/2 Britannia and want to try and get the chassis paid whilst it's warmish, but want to make sure I don't need to fit any supports for the boiler. I've seen some pictures with them fitted and others not.
Any guidance welcomed

Hi Stephen, there are two support points:
1. Foundation ring at throatplate end, which sits on the frame stay at the transition from main to extension frames. The ashpan then provides partial support depending on how it is fixed to the frames.
2. Smokebox saddle, which should use the top attachment screws of the cylinders (four in total, two per side).
Unlike the full size loco LBSC designed the running boards to be mounted on supports fitted to the frames rather than the boiler.
Regards,
Dan
