Over the years i have tried many variants of getting a good even lighting over the Chuck area on the lathe and the bed of the miller. One day i was going through my phot o gear and saw an add for a circular flash light, and it got me wondering, very fatel in my case ,and did some digging on tinternet. and although i think the modrrn 'influencers' are oxygen stealers one actually assisted me with one of her pics using a circular lamp. Sent off for two of the larger ones...not a kings ransom should it all go wrong and after several attempts knocked up a ball joint that would hald it reasonably solid.
The lathe one an be moved upwards but the is a slight snag with the miller in that it is in a rather singular position, and another method of drill chuck/collet holder removal is needed as it blocks the top of the spindle where the flats are. Having said that the only other problem to overcome was the exces light that wqas being emitted and a MK 1 cover was cut from plasticard and is in effect a upide down U channel each side of the tube so there is no direct light in the eyes. Perhaps when my lad gets his printer going i might get him to do a version in black! The ball joint dimensions were copied from the ones supplied from the animal cam but made out of thicker steel so 10mm balls with a M^ thread could be used
All in all not exactly gold medal material but it does the job for me.
try to ignore the mess!!!
