Hi Everyone, I am in the process of building 3.5" Black Five Loco and i am at the stage whereby i am assembling the boiler to the mainframe. The boiler tube is supported on the mainframe and is located in the smoke box, but how is the firebox located and supported to stop movement in the X- and rotational direction. i have to say this is something i never have thought about until now, and i have a strange feeling that there is a simple explanation, but nevertheless could you please advise. Thank you all for any help you can give.

There is usually some sort of sliding support at the rear. The idea is to allow expansion lengthwise, but to hold the back of the boiler down so it can't move up/down/sideways.
Usually there is some sort of L shaped bracket on the sides of the firebox which rests on the top of the frames. Then an upside down L on the sides of the frames which goes over the boiler L.
Sounds like a description of the rules of cricket!
Chris.
