What is the best way to remove unsightly and discolouring silver solder areas, from a model steam loco backhead? Most models seem to suffer from this to a greater or lesser extent, even professionally made boilers. It's very difficult to avoid. Painting "no-go" areas with tippex is difficult in practice. The backhead is quite a "busy" area, with bushes for watergauge, firedoor and attendant hinges, latch etc etc. Is a small high pressure precision sand or soda blaster a possibility to produce a clean, matt and tidy area? I have had some success with a Dremel using a small abrasive tube, but it's difficult to tidy up small areas and they don't leave a matt surface like a blaster would. Or is there an acid that could be used, say, by applying with a small brush, that would leave the copper OK but affect the thin film of solder that you're trying to lose? Thanks.
