Greetings from the U.S., I was wondering if there are any published drawings for the LSWR X2. I've got an older book called " Locomotives worth Modeling" that has an Elevation and Front End view, and I believe I've seen photos of a 5" or 7-1/4" gauge model. Did Model Engineer ever publish a serial? Regards and Thanks.

Searching the Model Engineer index ( www.itech.net.au/modelengineer/index.php) for "X2" brings up only one reference - not a construction series, alas. Issue 3271, page 79. Wilf Correction - Issue 3721. I've had a look. One photo only, and one mention, no detail.

There is a reproduction of the General Arrangement of the X2 in Don Bradley's book, "LSWR Locomotives - Vol.2 The Adams Classes" published by Wild Swan in 1985. You can still pick up second hand copies. GLR Kennions, now owned by EKP Supplies in Devon UK, market drawings and castings for a 5" gauge Adams 4-4-0 - not quite a X2 and probably one of the earlier Adams 4-4-0 classes - under the name "Salisbury" and designed by Kelvin Mooney. You could probably adapt that design to be a X2. See: www.kennions.co.uk/Salisbury. Malcolm
