Guys, You may or may not have heard of the ANTIKYTHERA MECHANISM found on the sea bed back in 1901 as a heavily corroded lump by local Greek divers. A fascinating story of examination and detective work to bring this mechanism back to life. a video of the ANTIKYTHERA MECHANISM and explanation here and it would seem, a kit to order. Usual disclaimer.

It is an item that has fascinated researchers for many years - you only have to scratch the surface of that effort to find out there are multiple different interpretations for the gearing design as more information is gleaned from the remaining fragments. Arguable it is an example of the very earliest model engineering.
Not only researchers but also entertainment, as it was a centre piece of the fifth (and final?) Indiana Jones film plot. I won't say more in case people haven't seen it yet.
Regards,
Dan

Guys,
There was a whole programme "In Our Time" about the device on Radio 4 this morning at 09:00 hosted by Melvyn Bragg coaching information from a group of intellectuals. It must be good. I usually find his programmes a bit pretentious but this time didn't turn him off.
Maybe check BBC iPlayer if you are a UK TV license holder.
