Guys,
My favourite and long serving blade broke the other day but it wasn't until I'd fitted a replacement that I realise how knackered it was.
My problem is that while struggling with the new blade the softened joint sustained quite a bend but was carefully straightened before I fitted it. The band saw is for wood and over the years has proved very useful for all sorts of fixes.
The Question: Chances are the straightened bend has the potential to break either immediately or in future. As I don't have have the kit to butt weld the thing is it viable to feather the ends and silver solder them together then re-grind/adjust to size? Assume I'll need a jig to keep it all straight.
Given the price of a new blade, circa 12 quid, I could just take the hit but this wrinkles me.

Hi Steve, Frustrating! I have silver soldered bandsaw blades in the past. Didn’t even bother to scarf the joint and it worked fine… Chris
