I need to assemble some parts using rivets for their appearance. Access to the back is very limited so I want to use dummy rivets. Does any one know where I can buy 4mm x 15 dummy rivets, also known as rivet bolts?

Don't know where you'd get metric ones. EKP do a range of BA & BSF sizes in brass & steel (you didn't say what material you require). How many do you need? If it is a reasonable number (i.e. worth setting up for a batch) then it could be worth asking EKP as they actually make fasteners.

Steam Traction world use Rivit bolts to assemble their kit engines and do list some sizes as spares. These have the shallowest of hex at the base of teh rivit head so they can be tightened from outside. Once painted it is hard to see the hex unles suou get right up close. They also do a similar nut. If you can get in from the back then the likes of EKP do unslotted round head screws which look like rivits but you would have to come down to 4BA approx 3.5mm

I found a place called Knupfer Model Supplies - modell@knupfer.info. I have had excellent service from them and they have really good quality items.
