Thought I would start a thread on the 57xx as I have one which is built and steaming very well and has had no modification from the original kits supplied by Modelworks. Perhaps everybody would now like to jump on me but I do have a 14xx which alas I have obtained in a somewhat sorry state and am in the process of rebuilding, so perhaps this one might not be as straight forward. Perfect evidence of my claim is on the Modelworks website where you will find me in the downloads section driving my delightful little 57xx. Admittedly I had removed the passenger carrying truck at this point but I had been pulling 4 adults with little issue other than having a monumental fire going. ;D

Hi Stan, Guess you're not the only one with a 57xx. I built one 20 years ago, but to LBSC's 'words and music'. I doubt that any comments from me would be helpful to your model. My 'Pansy' usually runs very well, very free steaming, but I upset the valve gear last time out, and have to re-pin and reset it now. It weighs about 120 Lbs, and is a strong puller. Thnaks Geoff nice to hear from you. As you say probably a little different but interesting that yours is a great puller like mine. I hope that the 14xx will be the same as its got identical cylinder and valve gear. Not to good with lbs and ozs Geoff sorry (before my time) but if you are I guess the Modelworks 57xx is about 70 kg but Ive never weighed her. Is there anybody else out there who has a 57xx finished??

Heck Stan!!,
70 Kilos is about 154 English Pounds!!! Is she made of lead? Hahaha.
As for using Imperial and Metric, I guess most of us still use both systems, and sometimes to advantage.

Geoff you might be right. Perhaps I do need to weigh her, but it takes two people to lift comfortably although I could bust a gut on my own. John thanks for the link. I am off over there now to have a good read.

Well Ive waited and waited. Can I take it that no one else owns a 57xx from Modelworks/Winson or that they just dont know about or post on this Forum!! What I have noticed is that there is a hard core of very nice people who donate time to actually posting on these forums and generously give their wisdom

Hi Stan
Just had a look at your 57xx on the ModelWorks web site, looks like a very nice model!!! I might be mistaken but did you have this engine on eBay as I remember one coming on eBay saying that it was the one on the ModelWorks web site. Also where is the footage taken, is it the Ryedale track?
Cheers
Jason

Hi Jason, yes it is and yes it was if that makes sense.
I may be biased but I think Ryedale is one of the best clubs and tracks in the country. They are all great guys and have been very supportive about us "Young un's" coming in with kit builds.
It was on ebay while I tried to accumulate some finances for more Modelworks projects, but we are all to attached to her.

Stan I attended the Ryedale Main line Rally in May, even though it rained nearly continuously whilst i was there it was a excellent event and I hope to visit again at the next one in August when hopefully the weather will be better !!! I was quite tempted with the 7 1/4 57xx that was for sale in the refreshment room if i only had someway of transporting it !!!! Jason

Hi Jason, Tell me about it. I wish I had the money and the space and skill to buy a 71/4 loco AND the ability to transport and manovere it! Its a shame you and I were not there the other week for one of our passenger carrying days when Locoworks North was pulling passengers with his 9F. I gather there were over 200-300 passengers pulled. Not all at once though! ;D And its up for sale on the Modelworks website due to other projects...........HOLD ME BACK!!! Stan
