Hi All Thought I would post a few pics of my current project. I aquired the chassis for reasonable cost and had the platework CNC machined by high speed router. I know its cheating, but I can't cut straight for more than six inches and I want to get on with the next engine. The rivets are all real and the tanks are 3 inches longer than standard to increase the water capacity. I hope to start on the boiler in the next couple of weeks. Andy

Got the pics on the link but not on here.
Nice looking engine, good idea to enlarge the tanks, that bit extra water is insurance.
Dave.

Super looking loco, and it's now visible on this page! I love loads of rivets, even my Southern 'Maid of Kent' will be blessed with hundreds of the things, LOL.

The pictures didn't show for me, but a right mouse click on the where the picture should be, followed by "show picture" worked wonders!

I'm a little confused how greasemonkey, listed as a guest, can post threads and pictures - am I being naive?
And sorry, Simplex's with rivets don't turn me on - but then again, it's a freelance, so whatever your taste.
Is the art of scratch building dying off with my generation, I wonder, as everyone is either building a kit or finishing someone else's model, or using laser-cut parts or professional CNC bits - what's going on???
The errors, sweat and minor misalignments from scratch building, sawing, filing, drilling, milling, are what model engineering is all about.
It's almost like buying a set of golf clubs and paying the pro to play your round ... or as I suggested to a Chinaman here, paying someone to have sex with your wife!!!

John,
Don't know for a fact but possibly greasemonkey is no longer a member for whatever reason but his posts remain showing him as a guest.
Purely conjecture

Hi Al
Odd that these pictures have only appeared today as far as I can see.

Greasemonkey was an established member of this forum but it looks as if he has, for some reason, decided to remove himself. This is a pity as he had a lot of good things to say and pass on.
Cheers

He's been gone for quite a while, I asked at the time but got no response. Ron PS DrJohn I thought model engineering was about making a model by whatever method you enjoy and errors, sweat and minor misalignments from scratch building, sawing, filing, drilling, milling etc, were something you did for your O level metalwork [or whatever they call it this year ]
