Tel I will be very interested to find out how well the Mini Mill performs. I now regret buying the Micro Mill but I didn't think I had the room for anything bigger hopefully I will be able to trade up at a later date. I would suggest that you Tram in the head be for you start. Even just using a square to check if the table is at 90 degrees to the column.

Seems OK so far Lee, tho' I haven't had much chance to play yet. It's a big step forward from my home-made one (which is about the same size (only bigger)) any'ow.

Hello Tel, looks very similar to the Chester CONQUEST mini mill which I ordered from Chester u/k on the 6/5/05 and arrived Carrickfergus ,northern ireland on the 18/5/05,not too bad. The driver, being on his own,as the are...we had to manhandle the crate in to the workshop,on inspection of the crate it was found that a fork lift prong had gone through the crate narrowly missing any vital parts, as they usually do... She is now up in position, and has had the preliminary test runs, seems o/k so far. Found the fine adjustment mechanism a little sloppy,3 of the 4 holding screws were a little loose.checked out tables ,and seem o/k. Altogether it would appear to be in good nick,no traces of loose metal swarf or dirt and runs sweet on all speeds,...I will now have to invest in a no 2 morse taper collet holder for ER 25 collets,I have a full set for the lathe....as the mill is morse no 3. I had to get a shell no 2 to no 3 sleeve to take the collet holder.Question...I put the no 2 collet holder into the no 3 shell and fit to mill with suitable draw bar, when removing collet holder again ,how do I get the 2/3 shell out?.....keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on with yours,.....All the best for now,...John

Well, I'd think you might have to make a pretty close fitting bronze drift to pop the 3/2 shell John.
Still haven't done much with mine yet as 'real life' has been rather rudely intruding on my time lately, but I'll get to it.
Got some 3mt collets on order - should be here next week. Think I'll make a 3" x 6" sub-table about 3" high as the head won't come down far enough to mill small pieces with an end mill in a collet.

Hi Shawki,
You can't actually post images directly to this forum. Instead you have to provide a link (using the image tags) to where the images are stored , for example on your own website (which is the way I do it). Others store the images on sites such as photobucket. If you look at the thread at the top of this section it will tell you how to do it.
I presume the photo of Tel's miller is no longer at the place where it was originally stored which is why we can't see it!

Hi baggo Thank you for the information. I will have another try . I see you are from Derby , this brings me some memories . I spent some time there a long time ago doing courses on aircraft engines at RR .This was more than 40 years ago . I am sure everything is different now .

Hi Shawki, I am afraid you would not recognise Derby nowadays. The various councils have destroyed the old Derby as it was and replaced the old buildings that had character with concrete and tin monstrosities that they call modern shopping centres. The city centre has been turned into an amusement centre for the local students with dozens of bars and nightclubs, a place best avoided at night! Perhaps I'm getting too old to appreciate this so called progress John

Sorry blokes, Photobucket seems to have shed the pic of the minimill somehow. I'll have to track the original pic up & repost it
