Wow Tel. That's the sort of thing I had in mind, but hadn't worked up the nerve for. Are the teeth made with a straight v-form cutter?

Yep, just a straight cutter held sideways in the tool post. I'ts a bit tedious winding the top slide back & forth, next time I'll take the few minutes it needs to fit the lever drive I made & use that.
Actually, they are pretty easy once you get going, this was the second set I did as the first were a little bit large for what I wanted.
Indexing was done with a change wheel held in the back of the mandrel with an expanding plug - I have fitted a bracket carrying a detent pin to the lathe for jobs like this.
