Hi All Thought I would post some pictures of Dougal, one of my current projects. I am using the minimum of castings and fabricating where ever possible, partly due to cost but mainly for the fun of it. cheers Andy

HI John Yes I am fabricating the cylinders and everything else that can be. I should have pictures of the cylinders next week and also of the slide bar brackets. The cost of castings from Reeves is ridiculus and fabricating has reduced the cost considerably. Hopefully I will have all the parts of a rolling chassis to give my youngest son on Christams day! I'm determined to do some model engineering on christmas day even if it is by stealth.

Not only Reeves but all of them are pricing themselves out of the market. The more you do the more satisfaction you get . I am impressed with the work , well done , looking forward to see the cylinders .

Hi All Some pictures of todays progress. Cylinders have had the liners shrunk fit! The liners went in the freezer overnight and the cylinder bodies soaked in the domestic oven, whilst the wife was out, at 250C for 40 mins. Also the main frames arrived this afternoon so couldnt resist putting things togerther to see how it looked. Andy

Hi All Thought I would post a picture of progress to date. I havent been able to progress as far as I ould have liked due to work and family commitments but I hope things will start to pick up now. Additional to what cant be seen in the pictures are all the valve gear is done, valve chest and cover have been fabricted, regulator is made, boiler flanged plates have arrived, second water tank is cut out ready to assemble, all brake gear has been made and is ready to fit. I am waiting for the crossheads and then I shall fit the motion brackets and slide bars. Andy

The progress is excellent, and as they say it is the journey that matter and not the destination .
