Though I'd post this flywheel that I finished soldering up tonight. It didn't come out too badly for a first attempt although one of the spokes is a little out of line (no-one will see it when it's working though ) The book I'm working from suggests using a piece of scaffold pole or a bit sawn off a car drive-shaft cover but I didn't have either of those lying around (!). I did manage to find a piece of stainless steel exhaust pipe though!! The first piece I cut off wasn't formed very well - once I'd got it running true the rim thickness was all over the place. Piece number 2 was much better so I removed all the rust from the inner edge (using a 'dremmel' type tool), made a hub and some spokes and here it is just after soldering. With a bit of filing etc it should be ok - I might even paint the hub/spokes black as it looks quite 'industrial' like that!
