Hi Chaps
Is there such a thing as a definitive list of live steam locomotive desgns? I have copies of catalogues from Reeves, Blackgates, GLR etc which have extensive lists, but there seem to be many other designs out there which I might also be interested in. However, I am at the 'rolling chassis', minus cylinders as yet, of a 3.5" Tich which I bought as a set of castings from ebaY. I also have a Mona, a Minnie and the Royal Chester Allchin as abandoned projects so I have a fair bit to do before buying anything else. Also need to keep in with the domestic authorities so I cannot have any more 'stock' until there is something more tangible than a pile of grubby castings and copper sheet!
There must be someone who knows what has been designed and what is available?
Cheers
Brian

I think that's a big ask Brian, there's just so many of 'em.
As far as you 'stock' goes, that's a pretty common problem. Mrs Tel started complaining long before the house disappeared behind the pile. Dunno what her problem is - you can still get in the front door (sorta)

There is no single listing as the numbers are too great. How far back does one go? Greenly, LBSC (he designed over 100) Martin Evans (100+ too) plus the many other designers with just one, two or a few engines to their name.
One can search all the back issues of Model Engineer and Engineering in Minature, but what about the other publications? English Mechanics, Mechanics, and even Meccano Magazine.
Then there are the company designs. Basset Lowke, Bonds, and Stevens Model Warehouse, all had their own designs.
And so it goes on.....

Hi Tel and Alan
Maybe there would be an opportunity for a book then? Although I guess the author/editor would need to do a collossal amount of research and I suppose the market may not be large enough to repay the time and effort taken? I was wondering about the list because, as I said, I have several catalogues but keep seeing articles and photos of other machines which don't seem to be in these.
Cheers
