When testing my Masie boiler at home prior to the club test all looks fine except a weep from two of the inside firebox stays. This boiler has been used for several years and the firebox stays are of the threaded and nutted inside with solder caulk type construction. Any thoughts on how to either clean and resolder the stays/nuts or any other suggestions?

Have you tried car radiator repairer, Holts Radweld used to be the stuff. Mustard has also been known to work. Other wise its clean it up as best you can and try to top up the soft solder caulking. I'm sure some of our experts will have suggestions on cleaning methods. Definition of expertoften applied to me: Ex - used to be, spurt - a big drip.

hi johnd, I have used rad seal,(a little packet containing black crystals),with good results. remember this is only a temporary repair,if you can get to the stay heads to clean them, possibly a little acid in a schynge with a bit of tube attached, you may be able to re solder. good luck Brian (steammadman)
