All,
Now I've got one of those car navigator systems I aim to (slowly) add the locations of those club tracks either side of my rovings. The trouble is I need a simple address or post code not some convoluted directions from one odd datum point to another.
Location entry is either by post code plus house number or town, road, house number or town, road plus road-crossing.
Thanks in anticipation, I might just see you sometime.

The trouble is I need a simple address or post code not some convoluted directions from one odd datum point to another. When I first added the clubs and societies pages at www.modeleng.org/clubs.htm I added location information. There was a substantial backlash from clubs that were concerned that posting their location on a single site would be a great consolidation of information for prospective thieves who wanted everything from rails to engines. I recommend being cautious so as not to upset the more sensitive souls. Andy

Hi Andy Yet that is exactly what Mike Palmer has done on his Station Road Steam web site and nobody seems to be complaining that I know of. If clubs have got websites it is pressumably to advertise thier activities to a wider audiance and you can only get new members by advertising your existance. Catch 22.

Andys,
Point(s) taken.
I've looked at a couple of club sites and they have the blow-by-blow instructions: up here, along there, second left after....
I am now officially dyslexic having failed the normality test and don't want to drive with a handful of close typed instructions in one hand and a car in the other.... So I bought the magic navigator and now the nice lady soothes me to my destination.

You mean your GPS doesnt accept "go past the Red Lion, then turn left by the Horse and Jockey...."

OK, just to help you along, here are some of the tracks I know of.
(The ## at the end of the postcodes, is because Autoroute truncates them, omitting the last two numbers)
WORTHING. Field Place, BN13 1## The Boulevard, Goring, by railway line.
Chichester, Blackberry Lane, by junction with Bognor Rd, PO 19 2## (my club)
Basingstoke. Viables centre, Viables Lane, (Off Harrow Way) RG22 4## A nice friendly crowd)
Bournemouth. Littledown Centre, off A3060 (Castle Lane) eastbound, by junction with the A338. BH7 7##
Wimborne. (Flight Refuelling sports ground) BH21 3## Merley Park Rd, off Gravel Hill (A341)
Guildford. Stoke Park, GU1 1## Junction A254 and A3100 (their annual show is a "must see" event)
South Downs Light Rlwy. (10.25” gauge rlwy & club) A283 Stopham Rd, RH20 1## (near Stopham bridge)

How long will it be before some boffin writes some software to make the nice lady say things which are even more appealing? "Turn right now darling - oh my, you are a big boy." Suppose someone already has! Regards, Tony.

I have provided assistance to the development of these integrated systems for future vehicles.
Just for fun one of the guys involved added in a few lines for when you went past the correct turning.
Such gems as So you don't listen to me even when I am trying to help you. I said turn .... and you go straight on, typical. Were you this stupid at school?
Sadly the production versions will not have this installed.

Hi All,
City of Oxford SME, OX2 8ES. Do not use entrance off A40 Ring road, one wrong move = 5 mile detour! Use Harboard Road, just off A40.
City of Oxford SME, Dreaming Spires Rally & Sweet Pea Rally 2008.
Regards all,
Chris Kelland.
