Dear Simon,
What a wonderful offer, I am supprised to see that no one else has written yet. I am working on several projects at the moment with a view to making the designs avalable to interested builders in close to scale engines, you can view some of my work in the Prairie tank section. This is for a 5" gauge 517 class of 1890 as built. The others are a 44XX Prairie tank, the early 45XX could also be done of course, and a wonderful sandwich framed River class, all Great Western. The fourth design started with having a new cut off saw at work, and wondering if a very simp le loco could be built from sections of metal without castings, and for a person who has never made anything in metal before. Castings make people nervious!!
Working with degree art students gives me a good indication of what is involved.
I have posted S.I.M.P. on this forum and have had a very positive responce, I too, have enjoyed the design process and have just ordered the 6" dia verticle boiler for it. This is for a Reeves design. Steam In Moments Please, is a favorite of mine.
You may be able to help me in production of some parts for the first models, prior to publishing the designs.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
David Scott.
