Hi all
Another of my plans is as i build up a collection of information i am looking at producing water cut rough motion casting for different engines
these will save a lot of time in profiling and also you will have the holes set in the right places
how they come is like a casting you will need to mill the to finish thickness if need be if any parts are offset the holes will need dilling and reaming
then just tickle them with a file to finish and polish
save you absolutely hours of time and heartache of making silly mistake
running the cutter into the job on a rotary table DOH!!!!
What do you think and would you think this would be of interest
cheers Simon
p.s i have already got some made which will be on ebay soon for Maisie i.e connecting rods, coupling rods, expansion links and eccentric rod

Laser -cut and wet abrasive cut parts such as you describe are already available for many popular loco's , the problem you will find is that to be competitive on price -quality is pretty standard - you will need to order large quantities of each item .This means having your funds tied up in stock which doesn't move that rapidly and to keep a reasonable turn-over you would require a big range of items. My own cast parts require far less finishing and work out cheaper. They are strong , can have cast in detail which cut parts don't have and can be electro-plated to the finish required. I can quote you for any castings you might require , but tooling and patterns costs can be expensive for small runs.
