Well all, day one of BATHEX is over & I'm back from slaving over a hot engine board all day.
Had a bit of trouble getting either boiler to steam properly but got enough to keep running. Actually I'm quite pleased because despite not getting much over 10 psi 'on the clock' the steel boiler was running the Rocking Valve, Automatic Cut-off and Victorian vertical all at once. Not a bad effort considering that apart from some brief running in on air & a short steam test last Tuesday they are all pretty new.
The Victorian is now running down to around 30 rpm with no trouble & the other two tick over quite nicely from 60 rpm up. Beam engine is still a bit sticky & I had to stop everything else to get it running, so there might be a little fine tuning required there, but all in all a most succesfull day

Glad to read that you are enjoying playing the steam engines. Its always nice to find that something is working, well quite, as it should be. Do you know if there is a report on the net about the event? Enjoy yourself the rest of the weekend, sad to say I have to wait till next as by then the big ums have a gathering at Almere and the little ums at Leek. Look forward to it. Thanks Wilf.
Day 2 not long over & another great time. Did as I threatened & took a flue brush in this morning. Ran the small boiler with 4 engines going while I scrubbed out the tubes & gave the big one a general tidy up. Switched over around lunch time & ran four engines off the big boiler - much improved.
Don't think the event will make it to the web, but the local TV & other media were all there in droves.
The new engines have all bedded in nicely now & will run of just a wisp of steam - apart from the beam engine, which still needs a bit of tinkering.
Should have some pics available later in the week.

Should be no problems posting the pics here - I shot 'em with the real camera (35mm Pentax) so it'll be just a matter of scan & post when I get 'em back
